The minimum trading unit for Hong Kong stocks is “1 lot”, and the number of shares per lot varies depending on the stock price, which may be 100 shares, 200 shares, 1000 shares, or 3000 shares. For example, Tencent Holdings has 100 shares per lot, and JD.com has 50 shares per lot. Stocks with less than one lot are called “broken shares”. For example, if you hold 170 shares of Tencent Holdings, 70 of them are broken shares.
