IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is an internationally recognized code consisting of up to 34 letters and numbers that helps banks ensure the correct processing of international transfers.

IBAN only requires a few letters and numbers to record all the country, bank, and account details you need to send or receive money internationally. The system is used throughout Europe and is recognized in some areas of the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caribbean.

You need some detailed information to send or receive transfers (whether domestic or international).

IBAN (International Bank Account Number) identifies individual bank accounts. They are published by many banks in Europe, but banks in other parts of the world are also beginning to adopt them.

Routing numbers help identify banks when processing domestic ACH payments or telegraphic transfers. But only in the US. For example, you don't need it to pay friends in France.

SWIFT codes, like routing numbers, can also identify banks and Financial Institutions. This time it is Global Payment. They are sometimes called BIC codes.
