(1) According to the rights of options, there are two types of call options and put options:
Call Options (Call Options), refers to the option buyer to pay a certain amount of premium to the seller of the option, that is, has the right to buy a certain amount of the option contract stipulated in the validity period of the option contract, according to the pre-agreed price to the option seller of a certain amount of the right of the particular commodity, but does not bear the obligation to have to buy. The seller of the option has the obligation to sell the specified commodity in the option contract at the price specified in the option contract at the request of the option buyer within the validity period of the option contract;
Put Options (Put Options), refers to the option buyer to pay a certain amount of premium to the seller of the option, that is, in the validity of the option contract, according to the pre-agreed price to the option seller to sell a certain amount of the option contract specified in the specific commodity rights, but does not bear the obligation to sell. The seller of the option is obliged to buy the specific commodity specified in the option contract at the price specified in the option contract in advance at the request of the option buyer within the validity period specified in the option.
(2) According to the delivery time of the option, there are two types of options, American-style options and European-style options:
American-style options, are options in which the right can be exercised at any time during the validity period specified in the option contract;
European-style options, refers to options that can only be exercised on the expiration date specified in the option contract, the buyer of the option can not exercise the right before the expiration date of the contract, after the period, the contract is automatically canceled.
Most stock options are American-style options, and index options are generally European-style options.
(3) There are stock options, stock index options, interest rate options, commodity options, and exchange rate options according to the underlying of the option contract.
