What are the circuit breaker mechanisms for US stocks?
Market Circuit Breaker Mechanism:
Level 1 Market Circuit Breaker: If the market falls by 7%, trading is suspended for 15 minutes (between 9:30-15:25), otherwise not suspended.
Level 2 Market Circuit Breaker: If the market falls by 13%, trading is suspended for 15 minutes (between 9:30-15:25), otherwise not suspended.
Level 3 Market Circuit Breaker: If the market falls by 20%, trading is suspended for the entire day until the next trading day
Individual Stock Trading Suspension Mechanism:
Price fluctuation suspension: If an individual stock's price fluctuation reaches the limit, trading is suspended for 5 minutes during Eastern Time 9:45-15:35 (inclusive); no suspension after 15:35. However, if the trading day is a half-day, the time dividing point is adjusted to 12:35.
